Re-verification of Indiramma houses
The Telangana government has initiated a re-verification process for Indiramma housing beneficiaries due to discrepancies in the selection of applicants. Over 1 lakh applications were randomly checked, revealing that many ineligible individuals had received housing documents. A new circular has been issued to ensure only eligible candidates, primarily in the EL1 category, receive houses. For more information on this process and other Telangana updates, visit Vaartha.

The Telangana government has already launched four key schemes before the election notification. As a result, it has become easier to continue these schemes without any hindrances. In this context, two updates have emerged regarding Indiramma houses. It is easier to start the schemes, but the real challenge lies in their implementation. There are always issues, and officials often find themselves in a tough spot. The eligibility criteria and selection of beneficiaries are not always straightforward. The same issue arose in the case of the Indiramma housing scheme. The Managing Director of the Housing Corporation, VP Gautam, had doubts regarding discrepancies in the selection of beneficiaries. He wanted everything to be clear and immediately ordered a re-verification. This means the problem has come full circle. If you have already applied for Indiramma houses, your application will now be re-checked. Every application will be carefully reviewed, and only the eligible candidates will be selected. Gautam issued these orders to district collectors, municipal commissioners, and MPDOs. These orders have been sent in the form of a circular. Now, this is posing a significant issue for the officials.
The reason for issuing a new circular is that recently, more than 1 lakh applications for Indiramma houses were received in village assemblies. Every applicant requested a house. Upon random inspection of the beneficiary documents, it was found that ineligible individuals had obtained the documents. The estimate is that only around 5,000 people are actually eligible. This is why the government has ordered a re-verification. Initially, the government had decided to provide houses only to those in the EL1 category. Accordingly, the re-verification will now take place. If it is found that ineligible people have obtained the documents, the government will revoke them.
